This Inspector Apprentice role is an individual contributor position responsible for verifying vehicle identification and entering accurate vehicle information into the inspection system, including VIN, year, make, model, sub series, and mileage. The apprentice will inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results such as damage, previous repairs, structural damage, and missing or inoperable items. This includes inspecting and recording both the exterior condition (tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components) and interior condition (seats, dashboard, options) of vehicles. The role also involves completing and verifying data entry to support vehicle condition documentation and performing other duties like jump starting, moving, or imaging vehicles.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Generally, less than 2 years of experience.
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Minimal knowledge of automotive body and mechanical work
  • 0-1 years of body shop, mechanical, claims adjuster or estimating experience
  • Ability to multitask and must be detail orientated
  • Experience in navigating handheld and other documentation devices
  • Ability to pass Inspector Certification Exam within 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate vehicle information into the inspection system. (i.e., correct VIN, year, make model, sub series, & mileage.
  • Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results including damage, previous repairs, structural damage, missing or inoperable items.
  • Inspect and record vehicle exterior condition, including but not limited to tires, frame, glass, panels and mechanical components.
  • Inspect and record the vehicle interior condition, including but not limited to seats, dashboard and options.
  • Complete and verify data entry in support of documentation of vehicle condition.
  • Other duties as needed or required. (i.e., jump starting vehicles, moving vehicles, imaging vehicles)
