About The Position

Altek Electronics, established in 1972, is a comprehensive contract manufacturer providing electronic manufacturing services to a wide range of industries. They support the entire product life cycle, from prototype to production and end-of-life, specializing in PCB layout and design, PCB assembly, and upper-level chassis, control panels, and cable & harness assembly. Altek utilizes LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, is certified to AS9100D, and its operators are certified to IPC-610, IPC-620, and J-STD, ensuring ITAR compliance. The Inspector: Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) role is responsible for inspecting PCB parts and assemblies to meet IPC and/or J-STD workmanship standards, as well as internal quality standards. This position is offered on a weekend shift, consisting of 10-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 6 am to 4:30 pm. There is also an option to extend to a full-time, 4-day schedule by adding two more 10-hour days during the week, based on candidate preference.

Requirements

Good eyesight and hand coordination.
Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problems.
Basic component identification skills.
Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to read & understand assembly documentation and all inspection criteria.
Must have a high school diploma/GED.
Previous soldering experience or training.
J-Std or IPC-A-610 certification required, or successful completion of certification program per an agreed upon timeline.

Responsibilities

Review AOI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of SMT paste, component placement and solder joint defects.
Load programs per documentation.
Using magnification aids and stereo-microscopes, inspect populated printed circuit boards and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards.
Recognize problems in the operation process or with components and communicate those problems to machine operator for immediate correction.
Actively participates in quality initiatives by participating in problem solving, process improvements and performance measurements.
Responsible for understanding & following company, and or manufacturing guidelines/procedures.
Responsible for product quality as defined by internal and external customers, work instructions, specifications and procedures.
Responsible for following established safety rules & 6S.
Conduct in process and final inspections on PCB assemblies, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
Ensure that the product conforms to work instructions, IPC or J-STD standards, and internal quality/workmanship standards.
Identify and segregate nonconforming materials.
Complete daily inspection report denoting the acceptance and/or rejection rate all items in accordance with the standards defined within job traveler.
Supports supervisors and/or operators in the resolution of quality problems.
