About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Inspector A. The core hours are 5:30am to 2:00pm Monday - Friday. The hourly rate for this position is $30.54 - $45.82 per hour. Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Precision Inspector A. The LA facility has approximately 300 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 5 years related experience in mechanical inspection of highly complex, close tolerance products
Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Los Angeles, (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge or experience inspecting various types of materials (e.g., aluminum, alloy, titanium, stainless steel, etc.).
Knowledge or experience inspecting aerospace products with coatings (e.g., anodizing, cadmium plating, chromium plating, nickel plating, zinc plating, passivation, etc.).
College or ASQ (American Society for Quality) certification a plus.
Experience working in FAA environment. Basic knowledge of DFAR and Nadcap requirements.

Responsibilities

Reports to the Quality Control manager or designated authority.
Responsible for performing in-process and/or incoming dimensional and visual inspections of highly complex; closed tolerance hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and mechanical component parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies as required.
Inspects (Incoming and/or in-process) highly complex; closed tolerance aerospace precision machined components and/or assemblies visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications and supplier/customer requirements.
Other duties and/or responsibilities may be performed as part of cross-training or employee development plan.
Responsible for review and acceptance of paperwork and documentation used in the acceptance of product.
Responsible to produce necessary manual or computer-generated inspection reports to accept or reject products.
Inspection involves using precision measurement equipment such as, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, thread ring gages, thread gages, surface plates, spring tester, optical comparator, surface plate, and CMM.
Use of geometrical tolerancing and dimensional measurements per ASME Y14.5.
First article inspection (per AS9102) of highly complex, close tolerance aerospace products.
Performs inspection on surface plates using complex inspection layout equipment.
Operates Coordinate Measuring Machines during the performance of inspections.
Witnesses and/or performs dimensional inspection on highly complex; closed tolerance machined components and tooling at suppliers (Source Inspection).
Signs-off product as acceptable or alert of discrepancies at Eaton suppliers.
Conducts investigation audits, corrective actions etc. as directed by Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE).
Acts as a liaison for SQE to communicate and investigate supplier issues.
