About The Position

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Quality Inspector – Level 2 to join our team in Goleta, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. The Quality Inspector will perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for spacecraft components and associated systems. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • No clearance required to start
  • Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools
  • Knowledge of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria
  • US Citizenship required

  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.
  • Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components.
  • Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.
  • Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.
  • Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
