About The Position

An Inspection & Test Associate is responsible for ensuring that products, materials, or equipment meet quality standards and specifications. They perform inspections and tests on a variety of items, ranging from raw materials to finished goods, and document their findings for further analysis. The role involves working in various environments, including a clean room, and requires attention to detail in measuring, testing, and reporting on product quality.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to compute angles, radii, and other unspecified dimensions.
  • Ability to position workpiece on surface plate and lay out reference points and center lines.
  • Ability to measure angular dimensions, radii, contours, clearances, thread lead, and other specifications.
  • Ability to test units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.
  • Ability to test parts for hardness.
  • Ability to inspect, adjust, and verify accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to examine defective parts and determine cause of defect.
  • Ability to determine salvage ability of defective items.
  • Ability to measure surface finish of part.
  • Ability to inspect first run parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to write reports regarding inspection and testing results.
  • Ability to draw enlarged part details for use on optical comparator.
  • Ability to inspect parts for flaws or internal fissures with ultrasonic equipment or fluorescent lights.
  • Ability to perform minor equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to clean work area.
  • Ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Examines defective parts to determine cause of defect and recommends changes or modifications.
  • Determines salvage ability of defective items.
  • Measures surface finish of part.
  • Inspects first run parts and assemblies.
  • Writes report regarding inspection and testing results.
  • Draws enlarged part details for use on optical comparator.
  • Inspects parts for flaws or internal fissures with ultrasonic equipment or fluorescent lights.
  • Performs minor equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Cleans work area.
