About The Position

Provides technical support to the quality and quality engineering (QE) functions. Conducts quality control (QC) inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards. Captures and analyzes statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards. Recommends new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required and 3-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Technical expertise.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree.
  • Proficient in the use of Standard Measurement Instruments (SMI) such as, but not limited to, CMM, optical comparator, microscopes, calipers, micrometers and height gauges.
  • Basic understanding of AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management Systems and AS9102 First Article Process, and a strong understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009.
  • Zeiss CMM experience using Calypso software.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repetitive and routine inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of standard parts, units, equipment, or materials.
  • Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.
  • Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
  • Documents the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Coordinates calibration of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Assists with inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
