About The Position

This role is responsible for performing various types of inspections, including receiving, in-process, outsourcing, and final inspections, to ensure products meet quality standards and customer requirements. The inspector will validate part counts, perform visual and precision inspections, document discrepancies, and take corrective actions. This position also involves implementing mistake-proofing methods, assisting in the disposition of non-conforming product, training other employees, and ensuring timely movement of parts through the production process.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of quality experience.
  • Ability to perform minor inspection checks using precision measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and apply process specifications, customer, and contract requirements.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprint (B/P) requirements.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications to comply with all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspections, including validating packing slips, performing contract reviews, assigning tracking and job numbers, verifying part counts, and conducting visual inspections.
  • Document incoming discrepancies and take appropriate actions to correct non-conformities.
  • Release components in accordance with the production schedule and delivery plan.
  • Conduct in-process and outsourcing inspections according to routing instructions, ensuring compliance with technical data, customer, and specification requirements.
  • Audit routings to validate prior operations and verify component compliance with quality requirements.
  • Assist production personnel in solving quality issues and concerns.
  • Create purchase orders for spot operations and route components for processing.
  • File incoming and outgoing documentation.
  • Review incoming certifications from outside processors to ensure conformity to contract and specification requirements.
  • Record observations and recommend process improvements.
  • Perform final inspections to meet delivery dates, checking for completion of all manufacturing processes.
  • Measure components using precision measuring devices (micrometer, dial caliper, etc.) when necessary.
  • Ensure components comply with specification and customer requirements.
  • Validate lab results.
  • Verify part count, serial numbers, and lot number control.
  • Part mark components.
  • Complete internal paperwork and validate accurate documentation.
  • Complete certification of compliance.
  • Package product in accordance with customer and company requirements.
  • Drive quality and process repeatability.
  • Implement mistake-proofing methods.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering departments to create inspection methods and ensure correlation of measurement techniques.
  • Assist in the disposition of non-conforming product and propose solutions to eliminate defects.
  • Initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Evaluate reject data, differentiate process defects from training issues, and communicate training needs to supervisors.
  • Communicate scheduling constraints to supervisors and production planners.
  • Train lesser-skilled employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
