About The Position

This role serves as the Lead Inspector for floor inspection and directs the daily activities of 10-12 employees. The Lead Inspector is responsible for performing inspections, tests, and/or audits of parts, units, materials, and all levels of assemblies as needed with regards to quality control specifications. This includes interpreting manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications, and lists to approve or reject units for in-process or final assemblies. The role also involves inspecting and maintaining support documentation, verifying requirements when a nonconformance is identified, and reviewing and reporting performance data to ensure in-process and finished products meet quality requirements. The Lead Inspector determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection and may interface with program quality or supplier quality teams. This position acts independently to support peer training with methods and procedures on new assignments and is expected to help identify when additional support is needed related to quality inspection.

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
J-STD-001 Solder Certified.
2 years Previous experience training others.
8 years relative experience to manufacturing.
Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

Ability to read part prints.
Familiar with DCS.
Prior use of advanced inspection techniques and methods.

Responsibilities

Performing inspections, tests and/or audits of parts, units, materials, all levels of assemblies with regards to quality control specifications.
Interpreting manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units for in process or final assemblies.
Inspecting and maintaining support documentation and verifying requirements when a nonconformance is identified.
Reviewing and reporting performance data.
Ensuring in-process and finished products meet quality requirements.
Determining or assisting in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection.
Interfacing with program quality or supplier quality teams.
Acting independently to support peer training with methods and procedures on new assignments.
Directing the daily activities of 10-12 employees.
Identifying when additional support is needed related to quality inspection.
Effectively communicating with all employees in a professional manner.
Maintaining data charts, cell metric board, and other pertinent quality information.
Maintaining the production lines inspection needs and working with relevant others to mitigate any risks.
Assisting in maintaining department compliance with policies, procedures, and standards including training sign off of team personnel.
Ensuring team members are properly trained for assigned duties, including program cross training and completion of on-the-job training.
Working closely with supervisors and quality engineering to develop efficient techniques to maximize throughput.
Actively participating and serving as a resource in the resolution of problems and issues related to quality and production.
Supporting and promoting Lean Manufacturing efforts including 5S, execution of proper inspection techniques as applicable, and explanation of any nonconformance to the quality teams.
Obtaining a US Security Clearance.
Performing other duties as assigned.
