Requirements

  • Ability of using precision measurement instruments such as a caliper, micrometer, and other required gages applicable to measurements.
  • Familiar with mechanical measuring equipment such as Optical Gaging Product (OGP), and/or X-ray fluorescence (XRF), testing used to determine the elemental composition of materials.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different materials used in manufacturing (aluminum, brass, copper, etc.).
  • Knowledge and understanding of tolerances and basic GD&T of blueprint drawings.
  • Visual inspection for workmanship and print compliance with aid of a microscope if applicable.
  • Familiar with industry standards such as Mil Specs, IPC-A-610 and MIL-STD-883.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience or 2-year post-secondary/Associate degree with 2 years relevant experience.
  • Communicates with contacts typically within the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
  • Follows established processes to complete tasks.
  • Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution.
  • Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has some impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.
  • Work is somewhat limited in scope, typically on smaller, less structured task-related activities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain a security clearance.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Proof of employment authorization will be required.
  • Only applications from “U.S. persons” within the meaning of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Administration Regulations will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing inspections on in-house machined and/or purchased precision components, units, materials, equipment and all level of assembly and quality control programs to specifications.
  • Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, BOM’s and specifications that result in acceptance or rejection of the inspection.
  • Reviews documentation and performs sampling and testing of incoming components, internally manufactured components, raw materials, and build of assemblies.
  • Reviews and reports performance data.
  • Ensures raw materials, in-process and finished products meet company and test standards.
  • Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection.
  • Perform inspections of components to ensure compliance to drawings, customer specifications and workmanship standards.
  • Maintain inspection logs and records.
  • Additional tasks assigned by your supervisor/manager
