About The Position

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of sales, retail, or customer service experience — or a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
Proven ability to develop new customers and maintain and grow existing relationships
Strong communicator — excellent verbal and written skills, comfortable on the phone and in person
Organized and detail-oriented — able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines without dropping the ball
Able to work independently and as part of a team — self-starter who doesn’t need hand-holding
Computer proficient — Microsoft Excel, Word, and ability to learn in-house systems
Able to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines
Flexible to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Comfortable in an industrial environment with some outdoor exposure in all weather conditions
Must pass a hair drug test and background check

Knowledge of the metals recycling industry preferred but not required — we’ll get you up to speed

Responsibilities

Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures — attend safety meetings and participate in the safety program
Own customer relations and retention at the scales — greet customers, analyze products for purchase, and handle overrides as needed
Field all inbound calls and deliver fast, knowledgeable customer service — quote requests answered in 30 minutes or less
Cold call potential new customers, build a tracking database, and report weekly on sales performance and pipeline activity
Assist buyers with customer needs and help grow the book of business through relationship-building and follow-through
Plan and coordinate customer appreciation events and conduct customer surveys to improve retention
Operate both ferrous and nonferrous scales with full working knowledge of processes and systems
Stay current on state and local scrap metal recycling regulations — know what we can and can’t buy and enforce compliance at the facility
