About The Position

Airgas is hiring an Inside Sales Specialist in Levittown, PA. This role focuses on retaining existing customers, driving gross margin growth, and acquiring new customers by managing a portfolio of accounts. The position involves proactive customer outreach via telephone, effective negotiation, and territory planning using the company's CRM system. Safety is a top priority, and adherence to all company policies and procedures, including those related to Safety, IT Security, Antitrust, and Fraud, is required. The role involves approximately 40% of the day on the phone with customers, both making outbound calls to existing clients and prospects, and receiving inbound calls to provide professional service. Responsibilities include managing call path control through negotiation, attending training sessions, documenting sales quotes and orders in SAP, processing customer returns and credits, and utilizing Salesforce.com for sales planning, customer data management, and opportunity tracking. Value-added tools like emarket capabilities, airgas.com, marketing materials, and the Field Specialist Network may be used. Collaboration with Sales Managers for call technique enhancement and territory planning is expected. The role may also involve assisting with training or mentoring peers and participating in team and departmental meetings. All other position-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Prior sales experience/customer service at Airgas
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Ability to interact well with others
  • Able to work well as a member of a team
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Associates must hold safety as the utmost priority.
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures, of particular importance are the items assigned annually through Airgas University, detailing specific rules around Safety, IT Security, Antitrust - Global Competition Principles and Practices, Avoiding Fraud, etc.
  • Gauge to be on the phone with customers approximately 40% of their day.
  • Use the company’s enterprise resource planning system, SAP, to document sales quotes and orders.
  • Follow all tactical procedures as defined by the training team.
  • Use the company’s CRM system, Salesforce.com as a sales planning tool.
  • Document cases that illustrate where business is at risk, or has been lost.
  • Work with Sales Managers to enhance call technique through self-monitoring.
  • Strategize on budgeting and territory planning.

Responsibilities

  • Retain existing customer sales, drive gross margin growth, and new customer attainment by managing a portfolio of customers and prospects.
  • Make proactive telephone calls to stay connected with existing customers and pursue new account prospect opportunities.
  • Manage territory effectively by speaking with customers in regular intervals (monthly).
  • Receive inbound phone calls from customers, and provide courteous professional service.
  • Manage call path control through effective negotiation of fair pricing while protecting Airgas profitability.
  • Attend all training sessions required as deemed appropriate by Management.
  • Use the company’s enterprise resource planning system, SAP, to document sales quotes and orders.
  • Accommodate customer returns and credits as necessary.
  • Use the company’s CRM system, Salesforce.com as a sales planning tool.
  • Use value added tools such as emarket capabilities, airgas.com, marketing materials, and the Field Specialist Network when needed and justified to meet customer needs.
  • Work with Sales Managers to enhance call technique through self-monitoring and strategize on budgeting and territory planning.
  • Assist with training or mentoring peers upon request.
  • Be an engaged participant in Team and Departmental Meetings.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned.
