About The Position

Boise Cascade has an exciting opening for a Inside Sales Specialist! This role is responsible for initiating sales, taking orders, anticipating and meeting customer needs. It also involves assigned product management, including selecting product vendors, purchasing, pricing, monitoring inventory, and promoting assigned products. The specialist will contact customers regarding market fluctuations and trends, initiate inquiries, sales, and promotions for product needs to customers, and coordinate and maximize customer inventory. They will communicate customer service requirements to location’s customer service representatives and coordinate customer deliveries with shipping personnel. At some locations, this role may perform freight/trucking specialist responsibilities. The specialist will also contact vendors as necessary regarding products relative to customer’s questions or concerns, assist outside sales staff and product managers, and aid in developing and executing marketing programs, promotions, and new product research. This role provides a lead role to sales support staff and requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience in related job function.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or with teams or groups.
  • Knowledge of operation of office equipment, such as PC, calculators, computer software, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of building products a plus.
  • Ability to understand and apply mathematical calculations and concepts involving fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Initiating sales, taking orders, anticipating and meeting customer needs.

  • Contacting customers regarding market fluctuations and trends.
  • Initiating inquiries, sales, and promotions for product needs to customers.

  • Coordinating customer deliveries with shipping personnel.
  • Performing freight/trucking specialist responsibilities (at some locations).
  • Contacting vendors as necessary regarding products relative to customer’s questions or concerns.
  • Assisting outside sales staff and product managers.
  • Assisting in developing and executing marketing programs, promotions, and new product research.
  • Providing lead role to sales support staff.
  • Demonstrating strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
