About The Position

DMG North is seeking an experienced Inside Sales Engineer II to join their Bay Area team. This position supports Outside Sales Engineers by providing equipment selections, estimating, proposal development, project coordination, technical support, and equipment submittals for commercial HVAC projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC professional who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with engineers and contractors, and managing projects from bid through order handoff. The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and serve as a trusted technical resource for both customers and the outside sales team.

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years of experience in commercial HVAC inside sales, estimating, applications engineering, or similar technical sales support.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Experience preparing HVAC proposals and bid packages.
  • Experience generating equipment submittals.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using commercial HVAC selection software, including VRF selection software, packaged rooftop unit selection software, air handler selection software, and applied HVAC equipment selection programs.
  • Experience with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, or similar construction software.
  • Ability to make independent engineered equipment selections.
  • Ability to develop accurate proposals and quotations.
  • Ability to generate complete and organized submittal packages.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to proactively manage project timelines and customer expectations.
  • Ability to solve technical challenges while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to learn new product lines and manufacturer software quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Support Outside Sales Engineers throughout the sales process.
  • Review mechanical drawings, project specifications, and schedules.
  • Independently perform HVAC equipment selections using manufacturer selection software.
  • Prepare accurate equipment quotations and proposals.
  • Develop complete equipment submittal packages for awarded projects.
  • Provide technical support to consulting engineers, contractors, and owners.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers regarding pricing, engineering questions, and lead times.
  • Maintain project information and opportunity data within the company CRM.
  • Coordinate project schedules and equipment delivery timelines.
  • Ensure smooth project handoff to Project Coordinators and Project Managers.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, engineers, contractors, and factory partners.
  • Provide engineering assistance throughout the life of the project.
