About The Position

The Inside Sales & Yard Associate is responsible for supporting customer sales at the counter while assisting with yard and warehouse operations. This position plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring efficient and safe handling of lumber and building materials. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–3+ years of experience in sales, retail, warehouse, or related field
• Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (50+ lbs; team lift as needed)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn internal systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable

Nice To Haves

• Experience in lumber, building materials, or construction industry
• Forklift experience or willingness to become certified
• Prior experience in a yard, warehouse, or distribution environment

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to walk-in customers, contractors, and vendors
• Assist customers with product selection and recommend appropriate building materials
• Create accurate sales tickets and enter orders into the system
• Handle phone and email inquiries and follow up on customer needs
• Coordinate deliveries and customer pickups
• Load and unload lumber and building materials for customers and deliveries
• Pull and stage orders for pickup or delivery
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely (training/certification required)
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and warehouse
• Assist with inventory movement, stocking, and cycle counts
• Work collaboratively with sales and operations teams to ensure efficient service
• Stay proactive and take initiative to support daily business needs
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
• Assist in other areas of the business as needed
