The Inserter Operator understands production and can set up and operate all inserting equipment, is accountable for the efficient operation of equipment, and the quality of the finished product. This role operates envelope inserters and can sort mail, maintaining quality and production standards in accordance with company policies and procedures. The operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting equipment to meet established production standards regularly, and must be able to effectively and efficiently operate multiple machines simultaneously. They will observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions, continuously monitor the quality of the finished product, and ensure the work area is free of hazards and clean of debris. Following all required safety procedures and communicating all concerns regarding safety to the department manager is crucial. The role also involves completing paperwork for proper job counts and trackability, responsible for accurate timekeeping and data collection through a computer system, and involving the Department Supervisor and/or Department Manager whenever concerns exist regarding quality, schedules, or delays. Reading and understanding the Job “Work Order" for instructions and specifications is essential, as is producing all jobs according to the specifications and instructions within the Work Order, and approving setups and making ready before jobs are produced. Performing reasonable repairs and maintenance as needed is also part of the role.
