About The Position

The Inserter Operator I is an hourly, non-exempt position in the Lettershop Production department. The primary purpose of this role is to learn to proficiently operate inserting equipment. This position involves reading and understanding job instructions, following Standard Operating Procedures, and operating specific inserting equipment for various job sizes and insert counts. The operator is responsible for the quality and quantity of each assigned job, acting as a team leader for their machine's assigned workers, and ensuring accurate and quality outcomes. Additionally, the role requires the ability to sort and containerize mail, understand associated paperwork, and maintain clean production areas. Performance is measured through verbal and written feedback, monthly recognition, and annual formal reviews.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three to six months related experience
  • Ability to read a limited number of one & two syllable words
  • Ability to print & speak simple sentences
  • Ability to add & subtract two digit numbers
  • Ability to multiply & divide with 10s & 100s

Responsibilities

  • Read & understand job instructions in the form of work tickets
  • Know & follow Letter Shop's Standard Operating Procedures
  • Able to operate 6x9 & #10 OSE size jobs up to 4 inserts properly & safely
  • Responsible for the quality and quantity of each assigned job
  • Act as team leader for their machine's assigned workers (sorter/bagger and/or temps), responsible for correct, accurate & quality outcome of all tasks on their machine. Immediately report any production issues to shift supervisor.
  • Ability to sort & containerize all classes of mail
  • Able to read & understand all associated forms & paperwork
  • Keep production areas clean at all times
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor
