About The Position

The Inpatient Staffing Specialist position is designed to be a point of contact for the charge nurses, nurse managers and nursing administration staff. The Specialist accurately collects and analyzes all required staffing details from the inpatient units, including special acuity assignments for patients and staff. Using acuity tools, staffing matrices, staffing policy and union contracts the Specialist will work independently, under the guidance of the Nursing Supervisor, to determine the best allocation and utilization of staff on the inpatient units. The Specialist is responsible for maintaining and monitoring sick calls, electronic logs for attendance, and low census for all inpatient locations. The Specialist works in a fast-paced environment which requires the ability to prioritize and maintain an orderly work environment that supports the smooth operation of the Nursing Supervisor Office and organization as a whole. The Specialist preserves the confidential nature of items which they have knowledge.

Requirements

  • One year experience utilizing clerical, computer and receptionist skills
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills to maintain a high degree of rapport with managers, co-workers, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions within established guidelines regarding organization and scheduling of work.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Ability to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiently using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite) programs.
  • Ability to compile data into a useable report format.
  • Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
