Under the clinical direction and administrative supervision by the Behavioral Health Supervisor/Director of Behavioral Health, this role is responsible for providing individual and group therapy, psychological/social service, and discharge planning functions for the inpatient psychiatric unit. The position provides counseling and aftercare mental health services for patients as ordered by physicians, completes concurrent insurance reviews to ensure reimbursement, and collaborates with physicians for safe discharges. The role ensures proper services and education are in place to accomplish these goals and may involve rotating weekend coverage with both Emergency Departments for mental health evaluations on a limited basis. The position makes referrals using an appropriate combination of short-term and group therapy approaches to resolve or ameliorate symptomatology, completes required medical record documentation on a timely basis, and participates in the Quality Management Plan for inpatient/outpatient services. Additionally, the role completes necessary continuing education requirements to ensure credential is in good standing and works in a team environment.
