About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Services to join our team at Wakulla Continuum of Care Unit located in Crawfordville, Florida, just 15 miles Southeast of Tallahassee. This role involves leading inpatient psychiatric services and supervising a multidisciplinary team in a provider-friendly environment where clinical care is prioritized. The position is within a diverse and innovative male correctional institution, offering the opportunity to provide inpatient or outpatient services utilizing specialized programming and Residential Mental Health Units for individuals with serious mental illness. The Psychiatrist will be responsible for psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, working under the supervision of the Psychiatric Medical Director and providing clinical leadership.

Requirements

  • Documentation of education as MD or DO and completion of accredited residency program.
  • Current license to practice medicine as a psychiatrist in Florida.
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry.
  • Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate.
  • Current tuberculosis documentation.
  • Active CPR certification.
  • Ability to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing as psychiatrist in a clinical setting.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in correctional mental health care or locked unit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inpatient psychiatric services.
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team composed of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners and Mental Health Professionals.
  • Provide inpatient or outpatient services within a male correctional institution.
  • Utilize innovative programming and specialized Residential Mental Health Units to assist those with serious mental illness.
  • Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients.
  • Work under the supervision of the Psychiatric Medical Director.
  • Provide clinical leadership for a multi-disciplinary team in providing behavioral health services to patients with psychiatric disorders or other mental health issues.
  • Participate in rotational on-call approximately every 6 to 8 weeks for 7 days / 24 hours per day.
