About The Position

Chicago Behavioral Hospital is seeking an Inpatient Program Therapist to join their team in Des Plaines, IL. This full-time role involves performing social services functions and guiding patients in accessing therapeutic treatment skills to achieve optimal emotional health. The therapist will address the bio-psychosocial needs of patients, offering basic consultation, delivering specialized clinical social work services, crisis intervention, and conducting short-term and long-term family therapy. The position also requires providing information and referrals as needed, contributing to the overall well-being of patients and their families. Chicago Behavioral Hospital is a cutting-edge 150-bed inpatient facility that also offers an outpatient partial hospitalization program, committed to providing exceptional therapeutic care with a focus on patient comfort and safety, and accessible care regardless of ability to pay.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a competency exam for the area upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field.
  • Illinois State license in social work or clinical related mental health field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual/couples/family counseling with a focus on engagement, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with community agencies for patient assessment and services.
  • Evaluate and document the effectiveness of interventions and patient responses.
  • Assess the psychosocial, educational, and behavioral functioning of patients and document updates.
  • Utilize age-specific considerations in treatment planning.
  • Respond promptly to social work service requests.
  • Contribute to the effective functioning of the patient's program and meet social work needs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
  • Ensure specific, measurable goals and interventions are defined.
  • Adhere to specific standards for the care of diverse patient populations.
  • Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric emergencies.
