Performs phlebotomy functions and non–technical duties. This role involves performing venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick procedures according to established hospital procedures, ensuring patient identification and proper specimen labeling. The phlebotomist will also manage STAT draws, utilize computer systems for order entry and verification, organize workload, and assist coworkers. Additionally, the role includes training new employees and interns, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work areas, recording refrigerator temperatures, and adhering to safety protocols. Receptionist duties may also be required in the outpatient lab.
