This part-time Inpatient Phlebotomist position is responsible for verifying positive patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, and performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients. The role also involves performing limited testing under CLIA guidelines, answering and screening telephone calls, assisting with inventory and supplies, processing specimens for testing, ordering and verifying test requests, documenting information for quality assurance, running quality control checks, notifying providers of stat/critical results, performing laboratory result entry, and instructing employees and students in phlebotomy, data entry, and specimen processing functions. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
