About The Position

We have exciting opportunities for Inpatient, Outpatient, and Mobile Phlebotomists/Lab Assistants. We are seeking people interested in part time, full time, and relief hours on day shift. The Inpatient Phlebotomist at the main hospital services inpatients, processing and registration of samples received from physician offices for testing. This role involves high volume work, with 50% of duties involving computer utilization with targets to meet. The Phlebotomist/Registration role provides specimen collection, registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics. This role also provides clerical support to the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Six months Phlebotomy experience strongly preferred.
  • If interested in 1st shift, must be able to work as early as 4 am.
  • Most of our positions are four hour shifts so must be willing to work four hour shifts M-F and every third weekend.
  • Availability to train 1st shift M-F, full time hours for 2 weeks
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • 50% of the work is done on a computer- orders, registration, data entry, etc.
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute.

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP certification for Phlebotomy (must obtain certification within one year of hire) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides specimen collection, registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics.
  • High volume work, 50% of duties involve computer utilization with targets to meet.
  • Provides clerical support to the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.
  • Processing and registration of samples received from physician offices for testing.
  • May be located at any outpatient draw stations around Grand Rapids; required to float to any health park when needed.
  • Travels daily between multiple nursing homes, corporate entities and residential facilities.
