Inpatient Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
MercyOne Clinton Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist Clinical Pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and managing patient records within the Pharmacy. This role requires skill and training but does not involve clinical judgment. Certified Pharmacy Technicians work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties exclusive to pharmacists. The position serves patients from neonatal to geriatric age groups. The Pharmacy Technician will procure and distribute medication orders, maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies, enhance the quality of care and departmental operations, and maintain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies to ensure ethical and professional conduct.
Requirements
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification required
- Required to be registered with the State of Iowa Board of Pharmacy before commencing employment
- Must be able to type accurately, have basic knowledge of medical terms and abbreviations
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are useful in preparing or assisting with preparation of orders
- Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment
- High school diploma required
Nice To Haves
- One to three years of previous pharmacy experience (or combination college and experience) is preferred
Responsibilities
- Procure and distribute medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
- Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies
- Enhance the quality of care of delivery of care and effective operation of the department
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior
