Inpatient Pharmacy Technician- Part Time
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Part-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA. This role involves performing care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. The technician will fill and deliver medications, ensure adequate supplies, triage and escalate issues, use appropriate systems for processing patient information, maintain quality assurance, and operate pharmacy equipment. The position is part-time, 24 hours per week, with rotating shifts and holiday rotation. Hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
- A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
Nice To Haves
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)
- Previous Pharmacy Experience (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
