About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our Siteman Cancer Center team. This role supports a nationally recognized NCCN/NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center across three key workflows: Ambulatory Infusion, Investigational Drug Services (IDS), and Specialty Retail. In this position, you will contribute to cutting-edge oncology care by compounding complex hazardous and investigational sterile medications, maintaining IDS inventory and accountability records, and supporting clinical trial operations, including study binder creation, protocol closeout, temperature monitoring, shipment receipt, and study audits/monitoring visits. The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 4, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, provides extensive support to staff pharmacists and helps guide the daily pharmacy operation. This position assumes primary responsibility for advanced level tasks, functions or an area of specialty, to include telepharmacy, investigation programs, diversion/regulatory programs, medication history collection, and revenue cycle management. This position also authenticates the work performed by other technicians, vaccinators, and/or lead technicians. BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Requirements

  • Missouri Pharmacy Technician license required
  • 5 years pharmacy experience required
  • National Pharmacy Certification required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5-10 years experience
  • State Bd Pharm Registration
  • Pharmacy Tech Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Hazardous sterile compounding experience preferred
  • 10+ years experience

Responsibilities

  • Compounding complex hazardous and investigational sterile medications
  • Maintaining IDS inventory and accountability records
  • Supporting clinical trial operations, including study binder creation, protocol closeout, temperature monitoring, shipment receipt, and study audits/monitoring visits
  • Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
  • Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
  • Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for advanced level tasks, functions or an area of specialty, to include telepharmacy, investigation programs, diversion/regulatory programs, medication history collection, and revenue cycle management; authenticates the work performed by other technicians, vaccinators, and/or lead technicians.
  • Become proficient in required and continuous learning for the advanced role, including the advanced use and maintenance of associated electronic/automated systems, and any necessary certifications; serves as a subject matter expert, as denoted by advanced certification recognized by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or other required training outside of pharmacy.
