Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park. Barnes Jewish West County Hospital Pharmacy is responsible for the Medication Management of patients by procuring, storing, and distributing medications throughout the hospital. The pharmacy is also involved with many patient safety and quality processes to optimize medication administration. The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 2, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, prepares medication orders, and assists in dispensing & transporting medications. This position also conducts sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, uses various automated/electronic systems and maintains the required documentation & records.

Requirements

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (required)
  • Pharmacy Technician license (required)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • State Bd Pharm Registration
  • Pharmacy Tech Certification
  • <2 years experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prior inpatient or hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • 2-5 years experience

Responsibilities

  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing machines
  • Assist with preparation of compounded sterile products
  • Deliver medications safely and accurately to nursing units
  • Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
  • Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
  • Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
  • Pursues proficiency in compounding sterile preparations and/or other advanced skills.
