About The Position

The Inpatient Pharmacy Intern supports interdisciplinary patient care through participation in rounds, medication history interviews, medication counseling, and patient education. The intern works collaboratively with the treatment team to support individual patient outcomes and monitors medication therapies through profile reviews, laboratory interpretation, and checks for consistency with medication-use guidelines and protocols. Applicants must be pursuing a Pharmacist degree and hold a Massachusetts Pharmacist Intern license.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Pharmacist degree.
• High school diploma required.
• Massachusetts Pharmacist Intern license required.
• Ability to learn computer and application skills applicable to the role.

Nice To Haves

• 0–1 year of pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds.
• Work collaboratively with the treatment team to maximize individual patient outcomes.
• Perform medication history interviews, first-dose teaching, food-drug interaction counseling, discharge counseling, and assessments of patient education and medication adherence.
• Create updated medication lists for patients upon discharge from a hospital stay or at the end of a clinic appointment.
• Counsel patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications and devices.
• Monitor medication therapies by performing profile reviews, interpreting laboratory values, and ensuring drug regimens are consistent with medication-use guidelines and protocols.
