About The Position

The Inpatient Occupational Therapist and Recreational Therapy Coordinator at Springfield Hospital will utilize the occupational therapy process to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals across inpatient medical, surgical, swing bed, and behavioral health settings. The role focuses on maximizing patient independence, safety, and participation in meaningful daily activities through skilled evaluation, intervention, education, and discharge planning. This position also coordinates recreational therapy programming to support patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being during hospitalization. The coordinator will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary care team to facilitate functional recovery, safe transitions of care, and optimal patient outcomes within the unique challenges of a rural healthcare environment. They will actively participate in admission recommendations, discharge planning, and determination of post-acute care needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current Occupational Therapist license in Vermont in good standing
  • Previous healthcare experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
