About The Position

The Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Boston Medical Center and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding clinician to serve as a hospitalist on the inpatient hematology/oncology teaching service. The hospitalist will function as an attending physician, supervising residents and interns on a teaching service. This role offers extensive collaborative opportunities for research initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes and safety, optimizing patient progression, implementing new systems, and establishing consistent standards of practice. The position also involves educating medical students and residents.

Requirements

  • Board certified/eligible in internal medicine.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in hematology/oncology is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an attending physician on the inpatient hematology/oncology service.
  • Supervise resident and intern teams.
  • Rotate on the service for 36 weeks per year, alternating between supervising a 10-patient or 16-patient team.
  • Serve as the service attending Monday-Friday.
  • Share weekend duties with other faculty.
  • Participate in the education of medical students.
  • Participate in the didactic training of residents.
  • Engage in research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes/safety, optimizing efficiency of patient progression, implementing new systems and processes, and establishing more consistent standards of practice.
