About The Position

The Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC) is seeking an Inpatient / Hospitalist Physician to provide comprehensive inpatient care for adult patients admitted to their short-stay inpatient unit. This is a unique opportunity to serve a historically underserved community in northeastern Arizona, gaining valuable experience in rural inpatient medicine and Indian Health Service operations. HHCC is a Joint Commission-accredited Critical Access Hospital serving approximately 18,000 people, offering 24/7 Emergency Department services, a four-bed short-stay inpatient unit, and various business-day ambulatory services. The facility also provides limited 24/7 onsite pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology services.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
• Completion of an approved residency in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or related specialty.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible by ABMS or AOA – Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Nice To Haves

• Inpatient/hospitalist experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Rural/remote, Critical Access Hospital, or IHS/Tribal experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care for adult patients admitted to the HHCC short-stay inpatient unit.
• Perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage acute and chronic conditions.
• Coordinate care with Emergency Department physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary services.
• Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers in accordance with facility protocols.
• Provide clinical consultation and support for complex patient cases.
• Document all clinical encounters in the electronic health record in accordance with facility policies.
