About The Position

The Inpatient Coder 2 analyzes medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with coding guidelines. The role also performs medical record abstraction, supports the hospital revenue cycle, and conducts concurrent reviews of patient records for DRG review and documentation improvement as needed. The position is expected to demonstrate and encourage teamwork and exceptional patient and guest experiences, while upholding and promoting patient safety and quality.

Requirements

• Completion of medical coding from an approved health information technology program.
• Current credential as a Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
• At least one year of coding experience.
• Analytical skills, strong computer skills, ability to multitask, and attention to detail.
• Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
