About The Position

The Pharmacist is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care and the delivery of pharmacy services at Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. The Pharmacist has responsibility for pharmacy systems, procedures and organization, stock purchase and control, pharmaceutical vendor liaison, and technical staff supervision and training. The Pharmacist is responsible for implementation of the departmental and organizational goals and strategic plan. Employees of Sutter Health and its entities may handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school (PHARMD).
  • Registered Pharmacist (RPH) within 120 days.
  • Able to use considerable independent judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to act effectively in dynamic situations.
  • Thorough understanding of California Pharmacy Law, State and Federal Controlled Substances Acts, Title 22 regulations, JCAHO requirements and Sutter policies as applicable to various branches of the organization.
  • Understanding of contemporary pharmacy practice including pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacology, compounding (drugs and parenteral solutions) and dispensing practice, toxicology, drug compatibility, drug information and pharmacy data systems.
  • Demonstrated competency in provision of pharmaceutical care to infants, toddlers, adolescents, adult and geriatric patients considering their physical, psychosocial and cultural needs.
  • Knowledge of health care related changes occurring locally and nationally which may affect the practice of pharmacy.
  • Computer and typing experience essential.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Group leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital or organized health care environment.
  • Experience in a supervisor position.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.
