About The Position

AHC SGrim Grove Medical Center Behavioral Health seeks to hire an experienced Inpatient Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Excellent written and verbal skills required
  • Excellent skills in maintaining information as highly confidential required
  • Skilled in clinical documentation review and quality assurance measures.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills required
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record.
  • Master's degree in Nursing, with a specialty in Psychiatric Nursing
  • Valid state licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Knowledge of mental health and emotional disorders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat psychiatric patients in the Behavioral Health Unit
  • Will carry a patient load of 13-15 patient per day
  • Provide consultative services as needed.
  • Perform initial patient assessments and working with treatment team to plan, implement, and evaluate plans of care of patients
  • Practice in accordance with Adventist Healthcare and Shady Grove Medical Center Bylaws, polices & procedures.
  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition.
  • Referral to follow-up care with outpatient and rehabilitation facilities.
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations to patient population.
  • Diagnose patients with mental illness.
  • Prescribe and review psychiatric medications.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients and families.
  • Identify and manage crisis intervention of patients.
  • Assist in monitoring the physical and mental health status of patients and promote health maintenance
  • Prescribe and implement interventions identified in interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Coordinate care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in treatment and discharge meetings, case conferences and special program meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Behavioral Health
