About The Position

AV is seeking an Inorganic Powder Production Technician as a member of the Materials and Processing Team at the Air Force Research Laboratory located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This position will work closely with material scientists for the scaled synthesis of ceramic powder precursor material. Daily activities include following established and routine protocols for powder synthesis for large-batch production of critical preceramic materials. The technician will apply working knowledge of laboratory methods and operational processes to complete assigned work within established standard operating procedures and scientific methods. Applicants should be comfortable working in chemical laboratory settings and industrial or manufacturing spaces.

Requirements

This position requires U.S. Citizenship.
Associate degree with at least two years of relevant laboratory or production experience; or bachelor's science in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Ability to follow written standard operating procedures and verbal instructions.
Ability to provide technical written reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of laboratory methods, analytical/scientific methods, or related operational processes.
Ability to perform assigned responsibilities and manage workload with a moderate degree of supervision.
Strong time-management skills.
U.S. Citizenship required

Responsibilities

General laboratory support/housekeeping.
Perform laboratory tasks as assigned.
Follow employee health and safety requirements.
Quality control of scaled synthesized materials.
Perform assigned laboratory and production activities with a moderate degree of supervision and manage assigned workload to meet established schedules and quality requirements.
Recognize and resolve typical issues encountered during laboratory and production activities using established procedures and scientific methods, escalating non-routine issues as appropriate.
Support material scientists in the development and standardization of new scaled processes by executing established procedures, documenting results, and providing technical feedback.
Document and communicate technical information, observations, and quality-control results to material scientists and other team members.
