About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking an Innovation Technician to join our Solar group. This role will provide support to the development and implementation of new technologies and processes through hands-on technical and/or administrative work, testing, prototyping and troubleshooting, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful innovation outcomes. This is a 100% travel position, working on a rotation schedule with varying locations based on the project. Mortenson hires for a career.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in a technical role with industrial or construction tools, materials & equipment
  • Computer knowledge relative to the position
  • Current driver’s license
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives
  • Agility and flexibility to accelerate and decelerate work activities
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Active listening, communication and collaborative skills including openness to diverse input and feedback
  • Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
  • Ability to travel
  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status

Nice To Haves

  • Construction experience or adjacent field, such as ASE Certification, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, Site personnel, outside suppliers) and contribute to the development of innovative solutions
  • Conduct experiments and gather/document/analyze data in support of innovation initiatives
  • Assist in the design, development, build and testing of new technologies, equipment and processes while staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Source and develop parts and service providers to support Innovation projects
  • Build and test prototypes of new products and processes
  • Prepare, maintain and update safety, training, inspection, operation, maintenance and technical documentation
  • Prepare and schedule equipment for transport and maintain and distribute adequate spare and repair part inventory
  • Install, service, repair equipment and monitor and report equipment inspections, conditions, repairs and uptime and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains
  • Train operators on proper equipment inspection, operation, trouble shooting and maintenance activities
