About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced legal appeals administrator. This position is responsible for the final appellate review of disciplinary and grievance appeals, including reviewing and investigating inmate grievance and disciplinary appeals, drafting and signing decision letters, and delivering the decision letter.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of ADCRR’s inmate grievance and disciplinary rules, processes, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of investigating and interviewing methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of Arizona Correctional Information System (ACIS)
  • Skill in written and verbal communication

  • Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
  • Must complete all required driver training

  • Must maintain the statutorily required liability insurance if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business
  • Must take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

  • Experience in addressing and processing inmate disciplinary and grievance appeals or tickets

Responsibilities

  • Reviews inmate grievance appeals and disciplinary appeals (Step 1 and Step 2)
  • Ensures adequacy of proof and due process has been met in disciplinary appeals
  • Investigates and reviews inmate grievance appeals, ensuring all administrative remedies are exhausted
  • Assists with training for grievance and disciplinary coordinators and disciplinary hearing officers
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
