About The Position

The Injury Prevention Coordinator is responsible for reviewing data within the trauma registry database and collaborating with the trauma team on data collection. This role involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating injury prevention programs in conjunction with community partners and resources. The coordinator must demonstrate high proficiency in data management and validity, working directly with Trauma leadership. Key aspects include ensuring compliance with Oklahoma State Health Department rules and American College of Surgeon's standards related to performance improvement.

Requirements

  • Completed the basic professional curricula of a school of Nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Red Cross.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Trauma Intensive Care Units or the Emergency Room.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Sound ability to maintain professional and courteous and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course Instructor (TNCCI) from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course Instructor (ENPCI) from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).

Responsibilities

  • Review data within the trauma registry database.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the trauma team in the data collection process.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate injury prevention while working with community partners and resources.
  • Show a high level of proficiency in data management and validity working directly with Trauma leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with Trauma leadership to ensure compliance with the Oklahoma State Health Department rules and regulations as well as the American College of Surgeon's standards related to performance improvement.
  • Develops and implements at least two injury prevention programs annually based on injury data from the Trauma Center (programs must address the top mechanisms of injury observed by the trauma center).
  • Participate in community events as a Trauma Center representative.
  • Attend meetings and committees at the hospital and in the trauma service area to establish and develop community relationships.
  • Serve as a liaison between the trauma center and community resources to ensure strong relationships and collaborative efforts.
  • Seek out actively opportunities for partnership and support within the communities served to develop and implement injury prevention programs and activities.
  • Collaborate with the national, state, regional and local agencies in developing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of prevention and public education programs.
