Participates in the design, implementation, and evaluation of community based injury prevention programs with a special focus on child passenger safety, ensuring safe transport at discharge for patients of Connecticut Children's.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with required experience or Bachelor's degree in public health, social work or related field
  • High School Diploma must have 5 years in child passenger safety or community safety programming.
  • Bachelor's must have 1 year in child passenger safety or community safety programming.
  • Knowledge of Injury prevention practices in child passenger safety.
  • Knowledge of Community program planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Coalition building and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Effective public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Program coordination and time management.
  • Relationship-building with varied audiences.
  • Project management.
  • Ability to Write reports and educational materials.
  • Ability to Present to small and large groups.
  • Ability to Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to Communicate clearly across audiences.
  • Ability to Use Microsoft Office and basic digital tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in public health, social work or related field.
  • Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of the CPS Technician and Instructor Training and Support Program to build regional capacity and sustainability.
  • Serve as a topic expert in child passenger safety and other injury prevention areas, providing consultation, education, and leadership on evidence-based practices to hospital staff, partners, and the public.
  • Manage and oversee services related to the safe transport of children at discharge from Connecticut Children's facilities, ensuring families receive education and resources aligned with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with community stakeholders-including schools, fitting stations, police departments, and advocacy groups-to expand the reach of injury prevention efforts.
  • Collaborate with IPC leadership to create and distribute educational materials, conduct outreach at public events, and deliver training to varied audiences.
  • Support the operational and communications needs of the IPC, including assisting with planning, reporting, and publicizing program efforts.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications and the Office for Community Child Health (OCCH) to ensure high visibility and alignment of messaging across platforms.
  • Drive company vehicle as needed
