About The Position

The Child Injury Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Benioff Children’s Hospital (BCH) San Francisco Emergency Department’s Child Passenger Safety Program. This is a one- year grant program funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The Child Injury Prevention Coordinator develops, plans, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates injury prevention projects, collaborates with San Francisco County initiatives, and provides clinically appropriate, evidence-based educational programs. The Coordinator works closely with team members to support quality and education initiatives related to child injury prevention. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $116,700 - $175,100 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an allied health-related field (e.g., RN, MPH, LCSW) and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Current licensure in alignment with education and qualifications (RN MPH, LCSW).
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional healthcare experience, including at least 1 year in pediatrics with exposure to trauma patient care.
  • Advanced or expert knowledge / understanding of -safety and injury prevention.
  • Advanced or expert knowledge and skill in applying and interpreting applicable local, state, and federal regulations and related standards, guidelines and, as appropriate, recommend organization policy.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills, including advanced political acumen and skill to effectively communicate with diverse constituencies in a highly political environment.
  • Advanced skill to effectively represent the organization to state and federal authorities, and community groups.
  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Project or program management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Professional certification.
  • Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST); Instructor certification.
  • Previous experience as an Injury Prevention Coordinator, Trauma Coordinator, or in injury prevention outreach education.
  • Data system design and management experience.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies, such as Lean.
