The Injection Operator Lead performs a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of injection processes. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations associated with PET and HDPE injection equipment and its auxiliary equipment. Niagara primarily uses Husky equipment but also utilizes other OEMs. The role involves communicating with the previous shift about line challenges and opportunities, conducting safety, housekeeping, and quality compliance walkthroughs, and supporting Production Supervisors with end-of-shift production reports. Additionally, the Injection Operator Lead coaches, mentors, and trains injection team members, and is responsible for the overall preparation, set-up, starting, and running of injection equipment. Minor adjustments to equipment may be performed as directed, but no mechanical work is allowed without prior approval. The role requires accurate completion and updating of various logs and forms, recognition and reporting of unsafe conditions and actions, adherence to plant safety rules, and proper use of personal protective equipment. Performing visual and mechanical quality checks, maintaining general housekeeping, and understanding raw material identification (Vpet, Rpet & HDPE resins) and safe grinding practices are also key responsibilities. The position requires the ability to work in multiple production areas with minimal supervision, perform relief duties, troubleshoot minor equipment issues, and collaborate with the maintenance team. A strong understanding of computer systems like Shotscope, Electirc80, and Ignition, as well as comprehension of line flow and manufacturing processes to maximize throughput, is necessary. Clear and concise communication is essential, and regular, predictable attendance is a requirement. This role involves working 12-hour shifts, day or night, on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule.
