About The Position

This position provides initial resettlement services to ORR-eligible individuals through the Program of Initial Resettlement (PIR), a component of the Preferred Communities (PC) Program. The position supports clients during their initial resettlement period by addressing immediate needs, connecting individuals to services and community resources, and assisting clients in successfully transitioning and adapting to life in the United States. Services are time-limited and must be provided within established PIR contract timeframes to support client self-sufficiency and ensure compliance with program and agency requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • three years of related experience
  • Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Pre-Arrival Planning, including arrangement of long-term housing prior to arrival, securing lease and furniture so house is prepared upon arrival
  • Meets new refugee arrivals at the airport of final destination and transport them to housing.
  • Provides material support and essential goods such as groceries, weather-appropriate clothing, diapers, etc.
  • Conducts Needs Assessment and Service Planning to lay a strong foundation for achieving early self-sufficiency by including initial needs, barriers, and resettlement goals.
  • Conducts in-person home visits to assess client needs, provide services, and monitor progress toward established goals.
  • Assists clients with applications for ongoing ORR and mainstream benefits.
  • Orients clients to their new community and provides information regarding services, resources, and daily life in the United States.
  • Assists clients in obtaining required domestic medical screenings and connects clients with appropriate healthcare resources.
  • Connect clients to additional services based on identified needs
  • Provides or arranges transportation for refugees to attend scheduled appointments
  • Coordinates with donors, volunteers, faith-based groups and other community members to enhance in kind donations and resources for the agency
  • Maintains detailed written and electronic documentation on service provision including the maintenance of orderly case files, case forms, online case management systems and completing routine case notes to ensure compliance with internal policies and accountability for the use of ORR funds.
  • Manages case stipends, documents and monitors all direct assistance expenditures, to ensure compliance with internal policies and accountability for the use of ORR funds.
  • Completes required services within the specified time frame provided by the PIR contract to ensure compliance with internal policies and accountability for the use of ORR funds.
  • Completes monthly and quarterly reports on case status and service provision
  • Engages with key community service providers and participates in consultations meetings to improve collaboration and services and support successful outcomes
  • Ensures all initial resettlement services are communicated either through interpretation to the client or in any language mutually understood by staff and the new arrival or their family members, to ensure full comprehension and informed decision-making.
  • Maintains organized, clean, and accessible storage areas and workspaces.
  • Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.
  • Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
