About The Position

The Ingredient Scientist makes an impact by – The Ingredient Scientist role is responsible for driving cost savings initiatives (CSIs) through ingredient review and cross-functional collaboration, while supporting frozen and beverage product development projects as needed. Collaborate cross-functional cost savings initiatives, including ingredient matching, replacements, and new ingredient development. Accountable to track, deliver, and execute cost savings projects. Manage and prioritize each cost savings project timeline. Proven workload management with multiple active projects. Design and execute line trials to validate new ingredients and formulations, ensuring processing feasibility (including CSI items). Collaborate and communicate closely with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure seamless scale-up and implementation. Create and perform benchtop analyses of new ingredients and formulations to ensure accurate product matching prior to scale-up. Perform all duties in compliance with all corporate and regulatory quality, GLP, and safety regulations. Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Food Safety and Quality. Demonstrate the ability to engage work in department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements that provide value to the customer. Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles. Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and FSMA guidelines as well as all safety regulations. Comply with Safe Quality Foods (SQF) food safety and quality standards. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Food, Dairy, or related science field
  • Minimum 3 years within an R&D function demonstrating capability with benchtop application and in project management
  • Keen agility in consumer product goods (CPG) company and ideally within the food and/or beverage category
  • Strong computer skills, especially in the MS Office suite
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
