About The Position

GHD is seeking an intermediate building electrical engineer to join our design engineering group. The position will be based in one of our Greater Montreal Area offices (Brossard, downtown Montreal, or Ville St-Laurent). As a member of the multidisciplinary design team, the building electrical engineer will work on a wide range of electrical aspects for numerous projects, such as new buildings, upgrades, and optimization of existing systems. The selected candidate must have practical knowledge in detailed design deliverables and electrical project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience.
  • Good practical knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, as well as applicable industry standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Good sense of resourcefulness and autonomy.
  • Experience working in a BIM environment.
  • Interest in mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills for teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ElumTools, Agi32, or ETAP software will be considered an asset.
  • A strong sense of initiative and a high motivation to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical design engineering: Analyze, design, and adapt building electrical installations.
  • Solution design: Perform technical supervision, coordination, verification, and design of various building electrical projects; Write technical specifications and reports.
  • Engineering inspections: Conduct inspections under the supervision of experienced colleagues to assess the quality of engineering work and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on corrective actions needed to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements. Conduct surveys of existing installations as needed.
  • Knowledge management system: Be part of the integral succession planning for the building electrical department if the selected person wishes.
  • Product and solution development: Assist senior engineers in defining project scope and service offerings; Assist senior engineers in estimating electrical construction costs.
  • Project management: Coordinate with technician teams and less experienced team members on the efforts of various internal and external stakeholders to complete electrical design projects for different sectors (industrial and institutional); Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific objectives.
  • Personal capacity building: Act as a mentor to technicians and junior engineers.
  • Client management (external): Contribute to client management on behalf of more senior sales representatives using existing client management tools.
