With many new programs active and customer demanding more flexibility in our engines, this has driven many software changes to our engines resulting in more oversight. Adding to this is CyberSecurity and ARP4754A system related certification. We are looking for an experienced Software Quality Assurance Engineer who is willing to work in this changing dynamic environment. If you are a self starter, flexible, fast learner, ability to work in a non structured environment, interested in technical and project leadership, have the ability to adjust to many priorities and enjoy those challenges, then this opportunity is for you. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours in Longueuil and is exclusively on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Technical Degree in Engineering/Aerospace/Control Systems/Software Engineering or Quality with at least 10 years experience.
  • Field of Studies: Quality Assurance, Engineering, Aerospace, Software Engineering, Control Systems.
  • An experience with real-time software is an asset.
  • A good understanding of the software development lifecycle and quality principles is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Curiosity and attention to detail in reviews and audits.
  • Project management, writing, presentation skills and the ability to work autonomously and in an unstructured environment will be a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of DO-178, DO-254 or other DoD or MIL-STD for software development and quality processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong human relations and written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
  • Familiarization with software configuration management, requirements management tools.
  • Business sense is a key competency in this role.
  • This position is in a French-speaking work environment, however, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand documentation and technical terms on a daily basis from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with international clients, suppliers or colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Software Engineering development or Software Quality assurance performing technical (process and product) audits, reviews of plans and standards, establishing and defining software quality requirements.
  • Familiarization with aerospace software development standards and methodologies.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience in software/hardware development, testing or quality assurance.
  • Experience in AS9100, ARP4754, DO-178, DO-254 CMMI Maturity, MIL/DoD or NASA Software standards will be a definite asset to this position.
  • Leadership capability will be a definite asset as this position will require the capacity to guide others technically and manage some of the projects.
  • Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project.

  • Has in depth knowledge of the discipline and role.
  • Has capacity to provide technical guidance to other team members, good organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of the overall Quality function including the Quality Management System (QMS) since will support updates to Software Quality Requirements (Manufacturing, Flight Critical Software) and provide flowdown to other departments.
  • Establish quality requirements as they pertain to software and airborne electronic hardware (AEH), including AEH used to support engine controls.
  • Conduct quality audits of software and AEH, both internally and at suppliers.
  • Communicate software/AEH quality requirements in compliance with Transport Canada and customer demands.
  • Support to engine programs for the review of the Quality and Software Development plans and compliance audits to these plans.
  • Prepare audit checklist, audit reports, presentations, generate and followup corrective action reports.
  • Develop software Quality Requirements based on AS9100 and regulatory requirements for both Flight Critical and Manufacturing software.
  • Provide leadership, training, technical guidance to other junior members of the team.
  • Provide ongoing process improvement by updating standard work, checklists where applicable and seek lean methods to accomplish tasks including familiarization with latest tools and technology.
  • Present audit results to Management and certification authority at milestone reviews.
