We are looking for a passionate structural building designer with a deep understanding of structural design and technical challenges. The role focuses primarily on the analysis, sizing, and optimization of steel, wood, and concrete structures, within a BIM (Revit) environment, for various building projects. The incumbent will act as a technical reference in design, in close collaboration with other engineers, drafters, and multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering, with a structural option. Advanced courses in building structure (reinforced concrete, dynamic analysis, seismic design, etc.) are considered an asset.
  • Member in good standing of the OIQ
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in structural building design in Canada
  • Excellent technical expertise in steel, concrete, and wood
  • Solid experience in numerical structural analysis
  • Rigorous, analytical, and technically solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to work on complex projects with a strong conceptual component
  • Technical autonomy while appreciating collaborative work
  • Excellent command of French

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in designing complex institutional, commercial, industrial, or residential projects
  • Strong involvement in structural choices during the conceptual phase
  • Interest in innovation, optimization, and high-performance structures
  • Experience in a collaborative BIM environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and size reinforced concrete, steel, and wood building structures
  • Perform advanced structural analyses using ETABS, SAP2000, and SAFE
  • Develop efficient, economical structural concepts compliant with Canadian standards
  • Ensure technical coordination of projects with internal collaborators (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and external ones (architect, clients, etc.)
  • Develop and validate calculation assumptions, analytical models, and load scenarios
  • Actively participate in preliminary and detailed design phases
  • Contribute to solving complex structural problems (renovation, existing constraints, phasing, etc.)
  • Ensure the technical quality of deliverables (plans, calculation notes, specifications)
  • Collaborate with the BIM team to ensure structural integration in Revit
  • Provide technical support to construction managers and drafters
  • Participate occasionally in technical discussions with clients and partners
