Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager and the Assistant Vice President of Outpatient Clinics, the RN of Oncology Infusion and Oncology Clinic will provide patient support and telephone nursing support for patients with the diagnosis of cancer in various settings; utilizes an empathetic and caring approach to patients whose diagnosis and treatment are often complex. The RN functions with autonomy in clinical nursing practice within the guidelines established by the Iowa Board of Nursing and Broadlawns Medical Center. The RN is responsible for assisting providers in providing timely patient visits, communications, and the processing of outpatient medication refill requests.

Requirements

  • Current RN license recognized by the State of lowa Board of Nursing.
  • Obtain and maintain Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification from ONS for all RN's working in the oncology infusion room within 12 months of hire.
  • Two years of RN experience.
  • Certification in BLS.
  • Advanced computer experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Provides clinical patient care support with positive customer service and patient-centered care in the assigned clinic with timely feedback to patients.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting guidelines and agencies' policies.
  • Assists patients through infusions in a calm and caring manner.
  • Completes required annual mandatory education within defined time frame.
  • Demonstrates clinical and critical thinking skills and good judgment in decision making.
  • Maintains skills, knowledge and abilities concerning current innovations in testing and pharmacology.
  • Demonstrates awareness and application of all policies and procedures.
