About The Position

Optum NY/NJ is seeking an Infusion Pharmacy Technician to join their team in Poughkeepsie, NY. Optum is a clinician-led care organization focused on improving healthcare. The Infusion Office has an opening for a friendly, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Infusion Pharmacy Technician responsible for completing set processes and protocols. This role works cooperatively with the care team to support the organization's vision and mission, deliver excellent customer service, adhere to Lean processes, and help meet financial, clinical, and service goals.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
1+ years of computer proficiency experience (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
1+ years of pharmacy technician experience (licensed preferred)
1+ years of experience working in medical field
Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST
Ability to travel to other offices if needed

Nice To Haves

Experience working with an electronic health record
Knowledge of Medical terms
1+ years of experience working in medical office or pharmacy position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
Ability to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountability
Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Coordinates with nursing staff to assure the most cost-effective method of delivery is utilized to achieve expected outcome
Information is input into the computerized software system to ensure accurate and timely dispensing and billing
Coordinates the drug preparation work of pharmacy technician and checks the accuracy of that work prior to releasing the medications for distribution. Accurately checks medications prepared by pharmacy technicians
Be knowledgeable with regards to the proper use and handling of sterile and hazardous medications.
Ensures compliance with all FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA and other regulatory standards. Follows all department policies and procedures. Participates in department staff meetings and other functions required in the department, maintains license, continuing education and competencies as required by the appropriate regulatory agency and department
Complies with all applicable Federal, State pharmacy rules and regulations related to dispensing, controlled substances, etc.
Ensures that all manufacturer requirements for REMS and/or other requirements are met when dispensing and/or shipping drugs
Provide oversight of the safety; appropriateness, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical care provide to patients (consumers) as it relates to specialty products dispensed
Monitors and orders all specialty pharmacy medications
Maintains all inventory and ordering of medications for infusion suite
Performs other duties as assigned
