The Infusion Nurse coordinates and provides infusion services to ensure consistent care across the continuum for patients entering the clinic. This role is responsible for assessing patient needs and delivering comprehensive nursing care in the infusion suite, while promoting collaboration among patients, caregivers, and the healthcare team to enhance the overall patient experience.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience in a medical, surgical, and/or clinical setting
  • Current license to practice as a professional nurse in the state where work is performed or compact license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and improve the care experience for patients and families
  • Promote a seamless flow through the outpatient health system to facilitate patient care
  • Provide and oversee direct patient care in accordance with nursing practice, protocols, and provider orders
  • Deliver safe, effective, and comprehensive infusion services, including chemotherapy
  • Utilize knowledge of medications, treatment plans, infection control, and safety precautions to initiate appropriate interventions
  • Demonstrate competency in accessing and maintaining venous access devices
  • Coordinate patient education, resources, and support for treatment plans
  • Maintain systems to document, track, and monitor patient data and care
  • Administer chemotherapy in accordance with research trials when applicable after required onboarding period
  • Perform telephone follow-up within the scope of the RN role
  • Perform other duties as assigned
