About The Position

The Infusion Nurse role is designed for a clinician who brings expertise, confidence, and calm precision to every patient encounter. You will deliver comprehensive infusion care within the full nursing scope, including patient assessment, symptom management, IV placement, port access, and safe administration of complex infused therapies. You collaborate seamlessly across departments and educate patients and families with clarity and authority. Strong clinical judgment, sharp problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate complex treatment plans into understandable guidance are essential. This position requires a commitment to working a minimum of 6 shifts within each 12 weeks.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Current and valid Nursing license in the District of Columbia.
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy/Immunotherapy certification current or obtained within 6 months, including competencies in immunotherapy, biotherapy, and chemotherapy.
  • Strong symptom assessment and interpretation of lab values required.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills required.
  • Ability to sit, walk, reach, bend, and twist for extended periods in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. as part of routine clinical duties.
  • Regular exposure to clinical environments requiring PPE.
  • Manual dexterity required for computer and clinical equipment operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with vascular access devices preferred.
  • Prior experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, or immunotherapy preferred.
  • Two years of oncology nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, and related biological agents.
  • Assists in obtaining informed consent and explains treatment plans, potential side effects, and supportive measures.
  • Provides emotional support in partnership with social work.
  • Administers study drugs and investigational biologics.
  • Performs triage, assesses symptoms, and manages follow-up care.
  • Educates patients and caregivers on medications, treatment expectations, and side effect management.
  • Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care throughout the treatment cycle.
  • Develops and delivers patient and family education, ensuring resources are clear, accurate, and accessible.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops, and continuous learning to enhance infusion and oncology care practices.
